Following a sidewalk lined with cherry trees waiting patiently to perform with popping blossoms, I arrived at the FDR Memorial nestled up against the Potomac River. Many of his and Elenor’s pull out quotes hung chiseled on marble walls reflecting on faces of passing tourists.
This one caused me to pause. I like the ‘simple’ word.
FDR referred to simple work and it’s value to society. That was then and now is now. As I reflect on our current economic woes I’ve come to believe that we should create a corps of youth that strives to live a simple life. While the simple life may help propel our economy (away from hyper capitalism), more importantly, the simple life strengthens our moral and spiritual fabric. Works for me.
